Small Business of the Year

Hooray! We just were notified that we are a Finalist in the Small Business of the Year for the Brandon Chamber. Next week we have our site survey and do the video interview. Then we sit back and wait for the big announcement at the dinner in October. Wish us luck. We’ll keep you posted.

Senior Boys

We have been having a blast photographing a number of senior boys. They have such cool hobbies and interests and we have had fun capturing the uniqueness of each one. If you’re not happy with your Senior Photos and don’t feel the ones from the contract photographers, Bryn Alan, Lifetouch or Leonard’s, capture the real you, you need to come see us at Huth & Booth. We spend an hour or more with you, there’s no waiting, we have many background choices, and offer a fun relaxed environment. I am going to include a couple images from our sessions here for you to see.

Austin Clark

This is Austin Clark from Polk High. He is hoping for a scholarship in football next year.

Ryan Brickey

Ryan Brickey is at Newsome High School and is n the varsity Football team.

Kyle Swartz

Kyle Swartz is in ROTC and is at Newsome as well. The Jeep is his pride and joy.

We’ll post more as we photograph more guys and gals.

Awards

We just got back from the Florida Professional Photographers convention at the Rosen Plaza Hotel in Orlando. And are we excited to share our news!!! Both of us received the Florida Service Award which is given for service to the photographic profession. Since we have only been in Florida three years, we were surprised to receive it.

The convention has a print competitionĀ  every year, but since we usually are judges for that event, we haven’t been able to enter images. Together we had four images and one album accepted into the exhibit and one of the images, Stormy Weather, received one of the two Distinguished Awards in its category. I have posted it here for you to see.

We have come back with some new ideas and lots of enthusiasm. We are going to have lots of fun here at the studio. Drop by and visit us.

Florida Photographers Convention

We are off to the Florida Photographers convention over in Orlando. We are excited to see some old friends who are coming in to speak and to see all the new “stuff”.

Last week we went to visit Ed’s daughter, Tiffany, and family down at a resort on Marco Island - below Naples. We had the fun of photographing Addison, Ed’s almost two year old granddaughter. What a dynamo! Never stops. Sort of a typical two year old - into everything. Here she is in one of her calmer moments walking down the beach with her conch shell.

Addie on Beach

This is the family portrait we did on the beach between rain storms. We really enjoyed spending time with them. Addie gets cuter every day.

Ayers Family

We’ll check in when we get back to Brandon next week. We have our interview for the Small Business awards next week when we get back. Wish us luck.

Best of South Shore

For the third year in a row we are proud and thankful to the people in the South Shore area for their voting Huth & Booth the Best Professional Photographers in South Shore. We will try to live up to your expectations.

This week we also received the news that we have been selected as Semifinalists in the Brandon Chamber’s Small Business of the Year. We will be having our first interview next week. We are one of 5 in our category. There were over 160 businesses nominated. We are so excited. We’ll let you know how it goes.

Kitty Cunningham

A week or so ago, we photographed Kitty’s family over at Redington Beach south of Clearwater. What beautiful grandchildren she has! I’m sure you will agree. Kitty is the Executive Director of the Greater Riverview Chamber of Commerce. This is her whole family; her son John and his wife, Soni and her daughter, Laura and the grandkids.

Here areĀ  Limenwa and Kiaben, her beautiful grandchildren. Be sure and tell her you saw them and thought they were the cutest.

Kitty's Grandkids

We love spending time with families helping them preserve special times in their family’s life. This is such a privilege for us.

We will have some more images to share with you later. We have been doing some awesome senior portraits of guys…couple of football players…they have been such fun. Will get some of their images up soon.

Jimmy Reedy

This week we photographed Jimmy Reedy, an upcoming senior at Gaither High School and son of Kelly Reedy. What a talented young man! And as nice a young guy as any mother could want. I’m including some of his images we used for a Model Card. We wish him a lot of luck.

Wedding Photography

Huth & Booth are once again in the Wedding Photography business. After 3 years of doing only a few weddings we have added a fantastic wedding photographer to our staff. Rommel Sanchez will be our wedding specialist.

Rommel Sanchez

Rommel is an amazing photographer and brings to us a passion for his work. He is a people person and this makes him a natural for wedding and event photography. Rommel and his wife, Starla, are both graduates from USF with degrees in elementary education. They have three children - Anabella (5), Peyton (3) and Emmitt (6 mo.) We look forward to introducing them to you. You can see some of Rommel’s work in the Wedding Gallery. Check back to the Blog over the next months as we will be adding images here from some of our weddings.

Our new wedding coverages will be really tailored to each couple, with packages being assembled after talking with each couple to determine their needs and budget. We custom design each package for you - no two will be exactly alike. You can have image cataloques, albums, DVD slide shows, family albums, mini-albums for friends and family, and engagement sessions. All or just one or just the photography. It is up to you. Check us out. You will love our flexibility.

Brandon Chamber Honor

We are so excited. We have again this year been nominated for the Brandon Small Business of the Year - an award presented by the Greater Brandon Chamber of Commerce. We have been chosen for the 1-5 employee category. There were a total of 165 businesses nominated for these awards. The selection process takes most of the month of August and is announced at a dinner at the end of October. We will keep you posted on our progress through the process.

Betty just returned from West Virginia where she attended her High School Reunion. It was a great weekend seeing all the friends she hadn’t seen in years.

Yesterday we photographed the Russ Thompson family from Rochester, Michigan. Shonna, the mom, was in the class we taught back in June. They have 6 great kids and we had a fun time doing all the variations of family groups…the boys, the girls, the parents, the kids, and so on. Here is one of the images we liked from that session.

Michigan School

We are back! What an exciting and fun week we had in Traverse City, Michigan. Ed was in heaven - a class of all women and only one other man - Dennis - our Glippie. It was a week of weddings…Brides and Grooms, and all that goes into weddings. We did our class photo in the church on Wednesday.Class Photo GLIP 2008

Our couple that day were dancers and were fantastic. I am including one of the images we did of her in front of the window. It was spectacular.Bride in Church

Earlier that week we photographed a couple in front of the clock tower on campus. It turned out to be one of my favorite images from the week. We have a special lens we use for images like this one. BRide and Groom at Clock

After school we went up to Mackinaw City and spent Friday evening photographing the bridge at sunset. It was spectacular. Mackinaw BridgeThe light house was bathed in pink light and seemed to glow. I’ve never seen so many mosquitos as we saw that evening. They were really swarming. That was one of the things we learned about Michigan last week- mosquitos are out all day long. Or maybe it was because we had a rainy week. I thunk I used a bottle of mosquito repellent.Light House Mackinaw City

On Saturday we went over to Mackinac Island and had breakfast after which we walked all around, up hill and down, played a round of executive putting golf and ended up at The Grand Hotel - scene of the movie “Somewhere In Time.” The Grand HotelOur class had arranged for us to have lunch there in the Buffet. What an Experience! Last year we had had drinks on the porch, but lunch was quite something. They don’t allow tipping at the hotel and the service was outstanding. One of our friends from Michigan’s Grandfather had built the hotel. We visited his portrait and took our photo with it to send John.

All in all it was a fantastic week and we are glad to be back home. The little Prius got 50 miles per gallon and we were pleased with that. Price of gas ran from $3.79 at the lowest in Georgia to $4.16 in Michigan.
